I get by with a little help from my friends.

First, some good great news. ^_^ Free2WinGames.com is listed as the Top Gaming Blog on fuelmyblog!!!

WOOHOOOO!!!!!!

AND it's the top blog in "free games" on NetWorked Blogs!! Isn't that awesome? I think it's awesome.

It's awesome!!

Feel free to take a moment and dance in your chair with me. ^_^

All better now? Okay, well here's the not-so-good news. Despite the fact that this blog is slowly creeping up rankings in various directories, the number of daily visitors is staying the same. There was a HUGE rush when Pogo linked to the Poppit! review, but that's completely died out now. Current average is 43 visits a day, and the numbers are going down, not up. =(

Here's what I'm doing to try and get more people interested:
  • Posting in appropriate facebook groups (Slingo guides to Slingo fans, etc)
  • Tweeting links a few times each day
  • Looking for places to guest post
  • Commenting on gaming blogs. NOT spam. Spam is bad. >_<
  • Picking one post each day and using all of the Share features on it.
In other words, I'm not sitting on my thumbs and wondering why people aren't flocking to my blog. ^_^ I know that it takes time and effort. I knew that when I started blogging.

But what I didn't know, (and this may sound naive) is how important you are. You are more than "just" a reader! You cheer me on in Twitter when I get discouraged. You help me dig into games and figure out how the scoring works. You post comments to let me know that you learned something new. Or maybe you say nothing at all and just share a link with a friend.

The point is, you are important! A blogger without readers is pretty useless. *^_^* But it's also hard to keep blogging without an income, and that's why I need your help.

If you remember from the first Sunday Reader, I mentioned that one of my goals is to get sponsors. Well, I kinda need more traffic in order for any sites to consider a sponsorship. ^_^ And yes, you can help! See the green toolbar at the bottom of the page? There's a button with a plus sign and says "Share."

When you click "Share," a little window slides up.

Clicking any of those options will open a new window for you. If you click "Facebook," a window will pop open with a link to the post already on it. You can add a message if you want, or hit send and the link is published to your wall. You don't have to leave the blog to share posts! ^_^ I really like that feature.

You can use as many share features as you like! The one thing that I ask is that you only do this for posts that either A: You really like. Or B: You think someone might find it useful. As much as I need traffic, I don't want you to plug a post out of pity.

If you're feeling super-helpful, here are some other things you can do. ^_^ In the sidebar there are a bunch of little graphics under the "Plug me!" category. The top 5 graphics are all sites where you can either vote for my blog, submit a link, or leave a rating. The more votes/ratings I get, the higher I'll be ranked and there's a better chance people will see me. I've met some neat bloggers through fuelmyblog and BlogCatalog. I highly recommend them.

I really want to keep writing, but I need some help. If things don't improve, eventually I'll have to cut down on posts, and/or shut down entirely. I really, really don't want that to happen. There's a lot of potential here. I just need a little help from you, my friend. ^_^

Love
~Mira

About Free2WinGames.com

Every single game you see here is guaranteed to be free to play and connect to a real prize. Some games have progressive jackpots, but for many games you’ll just earn tokens. If that’s the case, you can use the tokens to buy sweepstakes tickets.

So far I've found thirteen free-to-win sites! Rest assured, they're making money too. Some of the sites have paid membership options, but most make their money from ads.

I investigate every site before I recommend it. They are not scams! You really can win money while playing for free!

About Mira

Who am I? I'm Mira! There are a few things you'll notice about me right away.
  • I'm terribly addicted to emoticons. If you turn any one of my posts into a drinking game you’ll be smashed by noon. *^_^*
  • I Tweet about my three cats a lot.
  • I really like free games!
  • I'm also a big fan of lists.

You might not know that:

  • I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English.
  • I've spent 11+ years playing various social and online games, including a few MMORPGs. (Runescape, MapleStory, Guild Wars, Diablo II, etc.)
  • I play games without sound because one of my cats chewed the speaker wire AND 6 headset wires. (I gave up after #6.)
  • My favorite author is Tamora Pierce, and my favorite webcomic is Girl Genius. ^_^

I started Free2WinGames.com as a way to gather all of the free-to-win sites together in one place. At the time I only knew of four sites, and I thought that was it. Wrong!

At first the reviews were simple. I posted one or two pics of the game and shared my 2 cents. That was it! But I really wanted to do more than just post my opinion. That's why most "reviews" now are more like guides. I love helping people learn about new (to them) games pick up some new tricks! ^_^ It takes more time to write each post, but I enjoy the teaching aspect.

If you want to friend me in a game, here is a list of game sites I play! Clicking on my name takes you to my profile for that game site. Clicking on the site name will take you to the Free2WinGames’ site review, so you can learn a little more about that particular site.

*Whew!*

I'm always open for friends. ^_^ However, since I play so many games, please realize that it means I don't get to spend a lot of time in any one place. You might not see me often!

The Sunday Reader - Issue 1

ALERT: This entry is all text and it's really just for people who want to know how I'm connected to different sites. If you don't care about that, check out this random game review instead and have a great Sunday! ^_^

Income

Right now I'm reviewing games from 7 different sites. None of them pay me to do this, and I don't want them to pay for reviews either! I'd be more inclined to give positive reviews if people paid for it, which isn't fair to you.

I also do not work for any of these companies as an employee. I definitely don't want to do that, because then I'd be ineligible to win anything!

HOWEVER! I still have bills to pay. If I want to keep doing this (and I do!) then money has to come in somewhere. That's one reason I put up the tip jar. ^_^ As of right now (May 23rd) I've earned a rockin' $1.73 through AdSense. Keep in mind that each post takes me about 5 hours to research and write. (It's a LOT longer if I make a full guide for it.) Can you blame me for wanting to earn something for that work?

My end goal is to have various game sites sponsor this blog. From how I understand it, this means that I'd earn a few pennies anytime someone goes from my site to theirs. It would have nothing to do with the reviews, so I'd be free to share my opinions.

Another goal is to have contests sponsored by different sites. Contests are always fun, and hey, it's another chance for you to win something! ^_^

Site Connections

So! None of these sites pay me to review their games. But I'm still human, and I react to kindness. *Sheepish grin* I get excited when a site plugs me on facebook or Twitter, because I know they don't have to. My readership is still tiny, and I can't pretend that I'm throwing any extra business their way (yet.) So really, they are doing me a favor!

Here is exactly where I stand with each site that I currently review. They're listed in alphabetical order. Links take you to the site review, when applicable. Twitter and facebook links take you to that site's page. So uh.. lots of links here! ^_^
  • BugleGames - They found me via Twitter, through Gamesville! I really enjoy tweeting back and forth with the BG Twitter manager. ^_^ They linked me on their parent site (scroll down to see it!) and I think that's just awesome.
  • Candystand - The community manager contacted me and said she loved my reviews. Major rush! ^_^ She's working to get me early access to their Tuesday release games so we can promote each other! So far they've kindly plugged some of my reviews on facebook and Twitter.
  • iWon - No contact at all with anyone from iWon. *Crickets chirp*
  • Gamesville - It may (or may not) be clear that Gamesville is my favorite site. ^_^ For one, they give more prizes to more people than any other site I've seen. Secondly, they're very supportive and have repeatedly plugged my reviews on facebook, Twitter, AND their own blog!! I've talked a few times with their product manager and he's been very helpful.
  • Pogo - No contact at all with anyone from Pogo. *More crickets chirp*
  • Slingo - It's amazing how quickly things change. ^_^ When I started this post, I'd had barely any contact with anyone from Slingo. Now they've plugged me on one of their facebook pages, and I might be getting some Slingo merchandise for a site contest! Sweet!
  • Winster - I sent Winster links to the reviews and asked if they had an active Twitter account. The response was brief. "Thanks for playing!" and "I don't know if we have a twitter account." They do, btw. Last time I checked it had 58 followers and zero tweets, but yeah. Technically they're on twitter.

I hope this has been informative. ^_^ If you have any questions for me, please ask!
